10 Design Ideas for your Bedroom

A bedroom is more than just a space with a bed to crash on at the end of a hectic day. A warm, welcoming bedroom can help you deal with work stress, allow you to unwind and raise your spirits.

You can be as creative as you want when decorating your bedroom – there is no set design scheme you need to follow. While innovative interior design products can really add style to a bedroom, keep in mind these simple tips when decorating.

1. Stylish headboard

A stylish headboard is not awfully expensive and can brighten up an otherwise plain bedroom. The best part is you can style it to suit your personality. It can be artsy, fun, bohemian, classical or whatever you think suits your tastes the best.

A bonus: it also gives you great support when you want to curl up with a book in bed.

2. Layered bedding

Not only is layered bedding great to snuggle in on cold nights, but adding bedding is also a surefire way to brighten up your bedroom and make it look thoughtfully put together.

3. Dress-up corner

Unless you have a walk-in closet, it’s a great idea to have a dedicated space in your bedroom for dressing yourself. Wardrobe interior design is an important element while designing a bedroom. When choosing a perfect wardrobe, make proper use of shelf space and empty storage. Whether you opt for free-standing shelves or fitted wardrobes, map out the floor area in your bedroom to make it look more spacious.

4. Night lamps

Not only will night lamps allow you to read in bed, but they can add style to a room and save you from getting out of bed to switch off the main light in the bedroom.

5. Comfy rug

A bedroom with a rug can really elevate the warmth of the room. Choose one that you think will complement the room's furniture and colour theme.

6. Show off your green thumb

Putting plants in a room has three great advantages: they brighten up your room, make the air cleaner and add decorative value.

7. Right curtains

You should always get a good night's sleep. For this, you need to make sure your room is pitch dark, especially if you live in an area surrounded by activity and noise throughout the night. Blackout curtains and blinds will make sure the room is dark enough for you to sleep peacefully.

8. A statement mirror

A full-length mirror or one that hangs above a dresser adds a bit of drama and glamour to the room and will make the room feel more open by bouncing light around the space. If you plan to get a mirror for the bedroom, hang it next to your dressing space and closet so that it’s easier for you to get dressed when you're going out.

9. Bookshelf

If you are a bookworm, you might already have a bookshelf in your bedroom. A bookshelf adds character to a room and is a great design element.

10. Art

A beautiful painting is an incredible sight to wake up to every morning. You can frame your favourite painting or dedicate a wall to the artwork that you love. Alternatively, you can also decorate the wall with a collection of your favourite pictures.

A calm and relaxing space

Try not to make the bedroom cluttered with extra furniture and design elements, and make sure the bedroom has enough ventilation and natural light. If your bedroom is small, pick light furniture and bright colours for the room to make it look airier.

While new interior design trends are great for inspiration, remember to add your own style elements. This is because you're going to be spending the most important time of the day in your bedroom – relaxing and unwinding after work.
