At the Ideal Homes show this weekend, one of our Postgraduate Classroom students, Moya, will be showcasing her competition winning room design. Moya's room design was chosen by Colortrend to be one of their featured designers!
As the IDAI are also at the Ideal Homes show this weekend I decided to visit Moya's stand so she could tell me a bit more about it!
"For this project I wanted to design a room in which the paint was the focal point of the room, which would offset the overall design. I chose the colourtrend shade 'dressage' for the bedroom because of the drama and impact it provides. The design has one feature wall painted in 'dressage', while the other wall will be a clean, bright contrast in the shade 'almost white'.
For this space contrast was key, although the feature wall behind the bed is dark and dramatic, the surrounding wall fabrics and furnishings are bright, white and clean. Although the furniture is simple and contemporary in style there are subtle feminine accents of blush pink and romanticism throughout the room to achieve the desired juxtaposition."
Moya and her stand were incredibly popular when I visited her on Friday and I'm sure she'll continue to be successful beyond Ideal Homes. She is due to finish her Postgraduate Diploma Classroom course with us on the 25th of April and we can't wait to see what she does next!
The Ideal Homes Show runs until this Sunday 19th April and is open 10am - 6pm
If you would like to see Moya's design in person her stand is M21. She also blogs at www.designology.ie
